To start I would like to say something to everyone reading this; you are so beautiful. It pains to me to see so many amazing individuals hurting, hurting so bad that they cut themselves, or starve themselves, and some are suicidal. These topics are very serious and I wish I could do something to make you all feel happy, and if I could believe me, I WOULD.
I myself started a cutting a few months, and what I’m about to share with you is a technic that has worked for me, many times…
So I introduce to you “Drawing Recovery: The Project”
It is similar to the, already widely known, butterfly project (which is also quite effective) here is what the “Drawing Recovery” is….
1) Whenever you feel like cutting, take a piece of paper and trace the outline of your wrist/hand/arm. Don’t worry if you’re not the most artistic type, it doesn’t matter.
2) Once you have your outline of the wrist take a pencil or pen, once again it doesn’t matter, and start to draw individual cuts on the arm or if you really want you can cut the paper, as long as it’s the paper and not your beautiful skin.
3) If you drew on the cuts, now it’s time to erase them. Watch as one by one they disappear. Poof. You can draw and erase them as many times as you want.
4) Once you are done, you can write a note to yourself on the side of the paper, or a favorite quote of yours, or you’re favorite lyrics, it can be anything. Anything special to YOU.
5) Then take a breath.
While this is a long process, it’s distracting and at the same time kind of fun, which is exactly what you need in that moment.
I recommend keeping your drawing, you can look at it in the future and look at the message you wrote and smile for no reason beside the fact that it feels good to smile!
If you feel comfortable, take a picture of your drawing and tag it “drawingrecovery” I would love to hear from you all.
If you would like to talk about anything, don’t hesitate to message me (http://theturnofapage.tumblr.com/ask)
Stay strong beautiful, I know you can do it. I love you xx
